A California non-profit, Build It Green offers local government support, professional training, collaboration forums, consumer education, and green product marketing to government agencies, building professionals, and the pubic. Through its GreenPoint Rated program, it provides third-party verification of green building practices for building new homes and for remodeling homes.

Home Energy Pros

This social networking site brings home energy professionals together to share resources, education, and knowledge. Home Energy Pros provides groups, forums, blogs, videos and other services for professionals in the home energy performance industry. It is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy (under ARRA) and Home Energy Magazine.

U.S. Green Building Council

As a national non-profit organization, the U.S. Green Building Council provides resources for a prosperous and sustainable future through cost-efficient and energy-saving green buildings. The national organization consists of affiliates, member companies, and LEED Professional Credential holders. The council is organized into chapters and branches.

LEED is the The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Green Building Rating System™, which is a means of third-party verification for buildings of all types. USGBC credentials specialist in green design, construction, and operations. USGBC provices third-party verification through their project certification.

The Northern Californial Chapter provides workshops and chapter meetings for those in the San Francisco Bay Area (including Silicon Valley) and in the Monterey Bay Area.
